The Youth Braid Clinic pathway
From instruction to experience.

Start with learning
Students take part in Braids, Beauty & Business instruction with experienced adult guidance. The program creates room to practice technical beauty skills while exploring communication, professionalism, teamwork, time management, sanitation, and basic business concepts.

Build readiness
Learning is more than completing a lesson. Participants strengthen habits that matter in real settings: arriving prepared, following direction, asking good questions, caring for shared spaces, and taking responsibility for their part of the work.

Apply skills in context
Eligible students can move into a supervised Youth Braid Clinic experience. The clinic is a structured learning environment where young people apply approved skills with adult instructor oversight, scheduled student clients, and clear expectations for quality and safety.

After a real-world experience, young people can connect what they practiced to future education, employment, entrepreneurship, and additional learning. The reflection matters because it helps a new skill become part of how a young person sees their own potential.

It's Bigger Than Braids works with schools, libraries, community centers, local governments, workforce and transition programs, and youth-serving organizations. Together, we can shape a program experience around the setting, participant group, space, scheduling needs, and community interest.
For schools, the preferred model is an 8-week Braids, Beauty & Business learning experience, preferably after school, followed by a supervised Saturday Youth Braid Clinic for eligible students. Community-based clinics can be planned around local partnerships, program availability, and community interest.
The program is developed and delivered in partnership with Youth Braid and Business Academy, which provides experienced beauty educators, instructional support, curriculum expertise, and hands-on program delivery.
